Securitizing NPP Mochovce - Security speech act
This paper deals with the case study of finishing two units of Nuclear Power Plant Mochovce and the explanation of securitization of this issue. In the first part of the paper, theoretical conceptualization is presented, in the second part the actual case study is presented from two competing conceptual views. The traditional conceptualization of security is discovered as ineffective and unsuccessful while security speech act within securitization process is found as successful.The securitization process itself is than analyzed according to Buzan/Wæver analytical framework with the view on securitizing actor, and the audience/analytical environment. Paper concludes with pointing towards the need to extension of the analytical toolbox so that it includes security speech/securitization conceptualization besides the traditional concepts of security, as this new conceptualization is capable of overcoming the traditional concept as happened in the scrutinized case study.
